Pearly Whites

Papa has one more dentist appointment next week to finish off his root canal. He hasn't been very happy lately about his cavity. The dentist felt bad for papa because it's papa's first cavity and he has to get a silver filling so it will kind of stand out among the rest of his teeth. At least it doesn't really hurt much anymore and papa can eat hard foods again. Mama and papa are worried about my teeth now so they have started brushing my teeth. I'm not sure if I like it or not...

Papa keeps calling me donut-head...do I have something on my face???

I've found a new favorite place in the house. I like to climb on the sofa and watch the little people below me. Being king of the house, this is my favorite pose. It feels very regal. I also like to scare the little people below by barking at them. Yes, I am king of the castle!!!

Today it was raining. I hate the rain. And I hate the raincoats that mama and papa make me wear. They get a real kick out of dressing me up and watching how I react. I just stare wistfully at them and out the window, hoping that the rain will stop and I can get back to the fun.

Tonight, mama and papa went out for sushi to their favorite place, Kita-san, but it was closed so they had to try a new place. They went to Iroha Sushi near Naka-Meguro station. It was good and less expensive, but I think they still prefer Kita-san. The fish at Kita-san is fresher and the atmosphere is better. Iroha is like a sushi izakaya...

Last week, mama and papa went to the housewarming party of their friends, M & A, who got engaged a few months ago and recently moved to Omote-Sando! Must be nice to be rich!!!

Sports and stuff...

I was disappointed that the Ottawa Senators lost the Stanley Cup to Anaheim...who??? Anaheim "wild or domesticated web-footed swimming birds, in which the neck and legs are short, of the family Anatidae"???
Apologies to my US-born cousins, but I didn't even know they could make ice in California. Who taught Americans the recipe for ice? It must have been extremely difficult for them to master how to make it...
Then again, 19 players on the Anaheim team are Canadian...an insignificant victory at best...

And now I hear that Barry Bonds is 10 home runs short of the record set by the amazing Hank Aaron. That's just not right. What happened to sportsmanship and fair play? If Barry the Loser breaks the record, then I hope that at least the record books put an asterisk beside his name saying "Steroid Enhanced Record Holder"...or simply "Loser Drug Boy"...

But then again, America is the country whose law enforcers tried to let Paris Hilton serve 5 days of a 45 day sentence...enough said about their intelligence... :-)
BTW, nice job they did in Iraq...

Rogue

Mama and papa gave me a shower and this is my new look...what do you think??? I'm not very impressed with my hair style. Papa says I look like a punker...whatever the heck that is...

Mama and papa went to the Nissan dealership today to look at new cars. In particular, I think they want to buy a Nissan Rogue, which in Japan is called a Dualis. Personally, I think Rogue is a cooler name...
They are thinking of buying in a month and so delivery will be in August. I can't wait because it will mean we can go on more road trips! The Dualis has a lot of nice features, and, as a SUV, the size is large enough for a family but not too big for Japan. Papa took the Dualis for a test drive today and was impressed with the smooth drive but it didn't quite have the acceleration he would like.

This afternoon, mama and papa saw Spiderman 3. It was not a bad movie but not as good as #1 or #2. Spiderman 2 was the best of the 3 so far. The plot for Spiderman 3 was not as good as the previous two, and it wasn't clear what was happening at times. The story seemed choppy and, at 2 hours and 20 minutes, there is no excuse for that.

Papa found out last Saturday that he has his first cavity in over 30 years and, because it is so advanced, he may have to have a root canal this weekend. He hasn't been very happy about it lately, although he has lost a few kilos because he can't eat much due to the pain. He had to cancel his business trip to Singapore next week because he has to go to the dentist, but I'm happy because he will be home with me and mama. He calls me "little grasshopper" and "baka-chan" because he thinks I'm young and don't know anything but at least I know how to keep my teeth clean so they stay in my mouth!

Kita-Karuizawa

Mama and papa took me to Kita-Karuizawa on Sunday and Monday! It's a fun place for dogs and we had a great time! I almost got eaten by a demon but I was able to escape...or maybe I don't taste good and he let me go...
We were near Mount Asama which is an active volcano so we saw a lot of black rocks and even some volcano shelters in case the volcano erupts. Apparently, there are a lot of demons living there so I think mama and papa brought me there to protect them.

We stayed at a bed and breakfast which had a dog run
and 3 other families. There was a big Golden Retriever and a Beagle there too. The scenery was beautiful in Kita-Karuizawa. We went for a hike up a mountain and I got to play near a waterfall. I was completely soaked but didn't really care because it was too much fun!!! We also found a really big dog run and, since there was no one else there, I had the whole place to myself. We played fetch with my ball for a while and when I got tired, I took a rest under the bench in the shade.

During the mountain hike, I was really impressed with the beauty of the place. It was my first vacation and I was really glad we chose to go there. Actually, mama chose the place and found the bed and breakfast for us. Thank you, mama!!!

Mama and papa let me stay
out of the crate to sleep at the bed and breakfast but I kept running around all night. At 4am, I decided I was bored so I started barking to wake them up and they played with me and gave me treats until i went back to sleep. I don't think mama and papa were very happy but I was :-)
They didn't want me to wake up the other guests.

Yesterday, on the way home, we stopped at another dog run and I took it easy, relaxing in the shade. I hope we get to go again to that place, or another place that's fun for dogs. I will try to stay away from demons next time! Mama and papa said they won't take me anywhere anymore because I was so yancha but I know they had as much fun as I did!
